It is our pleasure to invite you to the 4th International Symposium on Underutilized Plant Species in Maribor, Slovenia on 18 – 21 June 2019. The symposium is an initiative of University of Maribor, Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Department for organic farming, field crops, vegetables and ornamental plants held under the auspices of the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS). The Symposium will be held in north-eastern part of Slovenia, under the slopes of Pohorje hills in the 4 star hotel Habakuk.
The Symposium aims to bring together researchers from diverse fields of study who share a common interest in Horticultural Sciences. The conference will provide the opportunity for scientists, professionals and students to present their latest findings and discuss their current work related to basic and applied aspects on issues of underutilized plant species. The symposium will be comprised of plenary and ordinary sessions and poster display sessions.
The thematic concepts and topics will comprise the following areas: 1. Plant genetic resources of underutilized plants, 2. Transfer of plant genetic resources of underutilized plants into practice, 3. Nutritional and health value of underutilized plants, 4. Climate changes vs. environmentally acceptable cultivation systems of underutilized plants, 5. Food processing and marketing of products from underutilized plants, 6. Organic production and use of underutilized plants, 7. Usable biodiversity based on underutilized crops 8. Other interdisciplinary topics links to underutilized plants.
